Madres de Nicaragua is a charity that is saving the lives of poor children in Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the western hemisphere. We do this by paying single mothers who are poor to raise them above the poverty level, and ensure their children receive adequate vaccinations and education. Each mother receives $80.00 and $20 for each child in school, plus $10 for transportation every month.
Madres de Nicaragua is a registered non-profit charitable organization that will generate income tax deduction receipts for donors.
We work directly with local Nuns in rural areas of Nicaragua, to identify prospective mothers, follow up with tracking and confirmation of prospective recipients. We transfer money directly to the mother’s bank accounts.
We work with financial institutions that will transfer funds at a reduced charge.
Recipient mothers are required to provide vaccination certificates and report cards of their children.
Donors are asked to sign Pre-authorized debit agreements to help automate the donation process for both chequing accounts and credit cards.
The monitoring of donations and the issuing of payments to mothers are done by volunteers, working with the bank, and the NGO, Bridges to Communities in Nicaragua.
Unlike other NGOs or charities, there is no overhead, no wages, salaries or expenses paid. All moneys donated go to recipients, except for minor fund transfer fees.
